We're thrilled to be welcoming a new practicum student from the Arts and Cultural Management program at MacEwan University to our team for the Winter 2019 semester.  Learn more about Emily and make sure to say hi if you see her around!

Have you recently noticed an unfamiliar face in and around Roundhouse? It’s me! My name is Emily Armstrong and I'm the new intern from the Arts and Cultural Management program here at MacEwan University.

A little bit about me:

emilyI am an Edmontonian through and through, but my professional career as a dancer has moved me across the world. After high school graduation, I pursued my passion for dance by moving to the city of angels, Los Angeles where I received my diploma in Performing Arts. More recently, I spent two years in London, United Kingdom continuing my professional work as an artist and working on the community team at lululemon’s flagship store on Regent Street.

I returned to Edmonton last September to complete my Arts and Cultural Management diploma while testing the waters in communications and public relations studies. Ultimately, I aspire to establish a professional contemporary dance company, so my education will be  a great asset.

When I’m not in class or at Roundhouse, I teach dance at local studios in and around Edmonton. When I’m not dancing, you can find me in the mountains skiing or hitting up a yoga class! I am also quite the thrill-seeker!I have summited Mount Kilimanjaro in Tanzania, and tackled the San Juan islands on a bicycle.

Being around bright minds developing incredible initiatives intrigues and motivates me to utilize my creativity in the most productive ways possible! One of my major goals with Roundhouse is to learn the ins and outs of day to day operations in the space. With guidance from Roundhouse’s senior manager Amor and community lead - Anika, I will be responsible for seeing through the production of monthly newsletters and blog posts filled with important nuggets about getting involved in social change for readers and clients alike! I love creating and laughing — if those two things are at the forefront of my work, I am a happy camper!  I am honoured to join the Roundhouse family and look forward to fostering positive relationships with each and every person who has helped cultivate and create this incredible workplace environment.  See you around, new friends!
