2018 in Review

What a year - we had our Grand Opening and many more mention worthy moments last year. Join us on a trip down memory lane.

At this time last year we walked through a space that hardly looked like it would be ready for our Spring opening.

Thanks to Clark Builders, we were ready enough to host the inaugural Enlightened Economy Conference in May!  You might notice the bleachers aren’t quite in there yet.

And soon to follow we hosted our sold-out Grand Opening event with over 300 changemakers in attendance as well as a pop-up marketplace and photos by NEAT photobooth.

Following our grand opening we hosted just shy of 20 events during Launch week, including Creative Mornings and Urban Matters’ kick off to their Vibrant Communities Speaker Series.  Fun fact: Our now member, Louis (Thirdstone) attended the Vibrant Communities event which was hosted by our committee member,Jeff Kuthrough his role with Urban Matters who is now an organizational member - hello, community building!

The summer flew by, we welcomed our first office members, hosted workshops, tried out office hour consulting (then re-imagined it) and announced our firstSocial Entrepreneurs in Residence, Matt and Kori from Earth Group!

We started the school year with Changemaker Week which brought in over 200 attendees and gave us the opportunity to partner with more great Edmonton organizations.

The fall flew by as we took part in the excitement of Startup Week and had team members speak at Fail Safe and Together 2018. We wrapped up the year in December with our member holiday party and a Holiday Mingle themed BizConnections hosted by Business Link featuring our marketplace items and celebrating the holidays in giving style.

Thank you so much for being a part of our very first year with many ‘firsts’. We can’t wait to change the world with you in 2019 and know there are still many new milestones ahead that we can’t wait to tackle together!
